2009 AAA/CAA FOUR DIAMOND AWARD WINNERS

- The 1,992 AAA/CAA Four Diamond Award® winners include 1,224 lodgings and 768 restaurants throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean.
- A total of 187 properties received the Four Diamond Award designation for the first time in 2009. This includes 102 lodgings and 85 restaurants.
- Overall, the list of Four Diamond Award winners has increased by 78 properties (compared to 1,914 winners in 2008). The net increase includes 65 more lodgings and 13 more restaurants.
- AAA/CAA Four Diamond Award winners are a select group; for 2009, only 3.4 percent of the 58,000 AAA/CAA Diamond Rated lodgings and restaurants received the prestigious designation.
- Four Diamond lodgings account for just 3.9 percent of the more than 31,000 AAA Rated® lodgings.
- Four Diamond restaurants account for just 2.8 percent of the 27,000 AAA Rated restaurants.
- Thirteen lodgings have maintained the Four Diamond Rating for 33 consecutive years, since the Diamond Ratings were instituted for lodgings in 1977.
- Two restaurants have maintained the Four Diamond Rating for 24 consecutive years, since the Diamond Ratings were instituted for restaurants in 1986.
- States/provinces with the most Four Diamond lodgings: California (157), Florida (117), Texas (73), Ontario (61), New York (41), Arizona (39), and Massachusetts (37).
- States/provinces with the most Four Diamond restaurants: California (68), Florida (67), Ontario (56), New York (48), Texas (34), and Nevada (33).
- States/provinces with the most Four Diamond Award winners: California (225) - 157 lodgings/68 restaurants, Florida (184) - 117 lodgings/67 restaurants, Ontario (117) 61 lodgings/56 restaurants, Texas (107) 73 lodgings/34 restaurants, and New York (89) 41 lodgings/48 restaurants.
